Employment matters
Employment legislation and HR practices are continually developing areas with new legislation and amendments being introduced on a regular basis and although crucial, it is often difficult for employers to keep up to date with those changes.
We provide help and assistance on both employment legislation and HR practices in a friendly, practical and knowledgeable manner. Our aim is to keep you up to date and assist you in understanding new legislation as well as assisting in resolving any disputes that may arise.
Shareholder agreements
With a wealth of experience in dealing with smaller businesses, we can advise on the contents of shareholder agreements to minimise the risk of disputes and misunderstandings which may arise at a later stage.
Although nobody wants to talk about exit strategies and such provisions, at the onset of a business relationship, it is nonetheless a very important area to cover.
Business contracts and structures
We take pride in ourselves as specialists in the drafting of all types of commercial agreements. Amongst other services we can review existing contracts, provide experienced assistance with amendments, consider all business issues in preparing bespoke or standard contractual documentation and involve ourselves in contractual negotiations where appropriate.
We work directly with our clients to ensure that all contracts accurately reflect their own commercial practices and provide suitable protection.
Conveyancing
A typical conveyancing transaction contains two major landmarks: the exchange of contracts (whereby equitable title passes) and completion (whereby legal title passes). Conveyancing occurs in three stages: before contract, before completion and after completion.
A buyer of real property must ensure that he or she obtains a good and marketable 'title' to the land; i.e., that the seller is the owner, has the right to sell the property, and there is no factor which would impede a mortgage or re-sale.
We provide conveyancing services for all transactions including buying or selling of houses or flats; remortgages or transfers.
Communication is the key to a smooth and successful sale or purchase and we aim to keep you fully updated on the progress of your transaction and be readily available to liaise with other solicitors.
Landlord and tenant disputes
We can provide help in checking or drafting tenancy agreements and ensuring that your rights are fully protected.
In particular we offer advice on disputes arising from the improper retention of deposit money on the termination of a lease.
Wills
Having a will is the only way of making sure that your wishes are followed regarding where, how and to whom your money and assets will be dispersed. It is a frightening statistic however, that nearly 70% of the population of England and Wales die without having a will in place.
A will sets out who is to benefit from the property and possessions in your estate after your death. It will also ensure that your estate, after any taxes and debts have been paid, is passed to whoever you wish to benefit.
- You will ensure protection for your loved ones
- You have the opportunity to appoint guardians for your children
- You can provide for your common-law spouse, who will not be adequately provided for if you die without a will in place
- You can prevent family disputes arising
We provide an efficient and sympathetic drafting service in order to look after your wishes.
